Doncaster UTC celebrates post-16 results on A-Level Results Day.

Doncaster, 15 August 2024 Doncaster UTC is proud to announce that its post-16 students have achieved outstanding results this year, reflecting both their hard work and the high-quality education provided by the school.

Today's results confirmed that over two-thirds of Doncaster UTC students studying Cambridge Technicals qualifications achieved grades equivalent to A*-C, with more than half attaining two Distinction or Distinction* grades (A-A*). The overall pass rate for these qualifications was an impressive 99%, and the average grade achieved by students was a Distinction, showcasing the college’s commitment to academic and technical excellence.

Garath Rawson, Principal of Doncaster UTC, expressed his pride in the students' achievements, stating, "These results are a testament to the dedication of our students and the exceptional support provided by our staff. Our curriculum is designed to challenge students and prepare them for the future, and these results show that our students are rising to the challenge."

Special recognition goes to several students who have excelled in their studies:

  • Fyn Deere achieved an outstanding A* in Maths, A grades in Physics and Further Maths, and a Double Distinction* in Engineering. Fyn will be continuing his education in Aerospace Engineering at Sheffield University.
  • Alfie Burke earned three Distinction* grades in IT and Business, demonstrating exceptional capability in these fields.
  • Jemi John secured A grades in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Medical Science, and will be pursuing a degree in Medicine at university.
  • Nathan Bushrod secured an apprenticeship with Agemaspark, demonstrating the effectiveness of Doncaster UTC’s strong links with local employers.
  • Caitlyn Summers secured a degree apprenticeship with MagTec, further underscoring the success of the college's approach to blending academic learning with real-world experience.

Jim Semmelroth, Head of School, added, "While the majority of Doncaster UTC students' progress to university, we are seeing an increasing number of our students choosing to pursue apprenticeships with local employers. This trend aligns with the key premise of UTCs, which is to work hand in hand with local businesses to provide students with a direct route into employment. These partnerships ensure that students are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to forge successful careers, and employers are investing in the future workforce by offering apprenticeships that provide real-world experience and growth opportunities."

Mr Semmelroth continued, "It’s important to recognise the incredible accomplishments of students like Fyn, Alfie, and Jemi, who have not only excelled academically but are also poised to contribute significantly to their chosen fields. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours and are confident that they will continue to make us proud."
