Principal Garath Rawson praised the dedication and hard work of both students and staff, highlighting the UTC’s commitment to combining vocational and academic education.
“Our students come to the UTC to specialize in areas that align with their career ambitions, and this year’s results reflect the success of that model,” said Principal Garath Rawson. “The UTC offers a unique opportunity to develop students’ employability skills alongside their academic qualifications.”
In Mathematics, over 84% of students achieved a grade 4 or above, with 54% securing a grade 5 or higher. Science results were equally impressive, with over 85% of students earning a grade 4 or higher and 53% achieving a grade 5 or more. Engineering continues to show strong progress, with 50% of students achieving a distinction. All significantly above the national average.
These results are a testament to the hard work of the students and the dedication of the staff. Principal Garath Rawson also noted the exceptional post-16 outcomes, with 30% of students securing apprenticeships—a figure significantly above the national average of 6%.
Head of school Jim Semmelroth added: “Working with our employer partners has motivated students whilst ensuring they are ready to join the local workforce as apprentices or to continue their studies at the next level with over 60% of students choosing to do so at the UTC.”

The results underscore Doncaster UTC’s role in preparing students for successful futures, with many leaving for excellent destinations that set them on the path to rewarding careers.
