Recognising excellence in Technical Education.

The Baker Award for Technical Education acknowledges the success of young people choosing technical education and excelling at University Technical Colleges (UTCs). 

The award recognises a combination of qualifications, work experience placements and the development of wider competencies required in the workplace such as communication skills and problem-solving. 

57 students post 16 were awarded the Gold Baker Dearing Award in Jan 2023 from our 2022 Doncaster UTC’s cohort. 

To gain the gold award students had to pass 4 strands which are:  

• Attend a work experience placement 
• Work on 2 employer projects over a 6 week period 
• Gain level 3 qualifications equating to 3 full A levels 
• Have a professional interview with an employer 

Louis Turley and Georgia Tang were also nominated as the top achievers and will be invited to a ceremony in London in the near future.

Well done to all 57 candidates!
