Post 16 Destination Pathway

At some point in Year 11 students will have a decision to make about how they are going to continue their education after their GCSE exams. This is known as a Post 16 Destination. The three main pathways students can choose from are:

  • Apprenticeships
  • Sixth Form
  • College

Students also have the option to apply for the military or begin work based learning with an apprenticeship.

Each pathway will suit a different type of student, have different entry requirements / application processes and potentially shape their career in different ways.

This moment of choice can impact on their future learning and future career so it's important they choose the right pathway.

Post 18 Destination Pathway

As students come to the end of their sixth form education they have a decision to make about how they are going to continue their education or career. This is known as a Post 18 Destination. The three main pathways students can choose from are:

  • Apprenticeships
  • University
  • Full time employment

START will help them to explore each different option, find out what opportunities are available in their area, choose what's right for them and make their next step.
